in the allegorical representation of a sleeping, winged boy. Eros, Greek for "love", often depicted as a naked, winged boy with quiver, bow and arrow, tormented both humans and gods with his love bullets. He was regarded as a son of the goddess of love Aphrodite and the god of war Ares. (Obviously the ancient Greeks already recognized the close connection between love and war).
