Original of the bronze lamp in the form of a trireme from the Acropolis at the National Archaeological Museum in Athens
This miniature copy of a warship, a Trireme, also called Trier,
shows some of the characteristics of this type of ship: deck on both sides of the ship, with double rudder and a ram, a battering ram at the stern, a cutout for the lowered mast at the bow, round bushes for the oars. After the inscription on one of the long sides, the lamp was dedicated to the sanctuary in the town castle.
The replica reflects the original in real size. Exhibit of the National Archaeological Museum in Athens, inventory no. X 7038, material Keramin (high-strength special gypsum) in bronze finish.
