Description

Skyphos is an ancient Greek drinking bowl

with low base and two horizontal handles near the muzzle. The mythical cup of Heracles was also a skyphos, therefore the vessel is also called the Heracles cup.

This drinking bowl from the geometric period, 6th century B.C., shows two pairs of swans leaning towards each other on the front and back. Several rosettes in the form of flower heads are also listed.

Hand-painted replica as reduction. A seal on the handle bears the inscription "MUSEUM COPY", on the back "HAND MADE IN GREECE".
