This Tanagra carries a wide, near shoulder
of the neck. Underneath is a foot-long robe.
On the head we see an artistically draped so-called melon hairstyle, which became fashionable among Hellenistic women in the 4th century BC. This popular hairstyle was often varied in antiquity. In the basic form, the hair strands, which are previously twisted in strongly, are arranged at close intervals parallel to the apex and combined at the back of the head to form a knot so that the coiffure gives the impression of a melon. In addition, this model has a kind of bun on the front of the head.
Tanagra figures were, like these, lavishly painted. Numerous ink buildup can still be found on this specimen.
Replica has original size and also corresponds to the found material - terracotta.
