A Corinthian column capital with surrounding acanthus ornaments,
a bear lye plant native to the Mediterranean region. The acanthus motif plays an outstanding role in Hellenistic art, especially in Roman art, except for the capital, as a decorative element in acroteria (corner tops on gables, tomb and pond reliefs), architectural friezes and reliefs. The corner ends are formed by volutes in the form of rolled tendrils.
The supporting surface is 8.5 cm square, the diagonal 14.8 cm, the height of the capital 8.5 cm.
