The Heros Echelos kidnaps the nymph Basile, while the leftist god Hermes drives the horses of the quadriga with his whip.
The inscription at the foot of the pedestal indicates that Kephisodotos, son of Demogenes, donated this pond relief, a so-called amphiglyphon, a relief with surfaces worked on both sides.
The amphiglyphon was found in Neo Faliro, Attica, and is dated to about 410 BC. It is exhibited in the National Archaeological Museum of Athens under the inventory number 1783. The original size is 0.78 m x 0.89 m.
