The Satala-Aphrodite
is a masterpiece of Greek bronze art.
The thin-walled casting of the bronze head indicates a late Hellenistic work, about the 1st century BC.
The eyes were either originally inlaid with gems or glass paste, the lips decorated with a copper coating. The discovery site is Satala, an ancient city in the Asia Minor landscape of Lydia in western Turkey. The top of the head was damaged during the excavations.
The size of the original is 38 cm, so this replica is a miniaturization, made of Keramin, a high-strength special gypsum, in bronze finish. The marble-like base is made of cast stone.
