Grave relief of Deines,
Anaxandros gravestone, from Apollonia Pontica, Bulgaria. The inscription says:
Here lies Deines, son of Anaxandro,
who blamelessly attained the goal of death.
The deceased of Deines deceased obviously did not only enjoy the respect and esteem of his fellow citizens. The feeding scene on the grave pillar also shows an intimate relationship
Deines to his dog, shows his humane attitude.
Original is dated to 490 BC, size 240 cm x 51 cm, exhibited in the National Archaeological Museum in Sofia, Bulgaria, under inventory no. 727.
