one of the most masterly preserved large bronzes, was found in the sea near Cape Artemision in Euböa. With a height of 2.1 m and a length of 2.9 m, it is approximately life-size. The horse was obviously represented in a race competition. The 84 cm tall rider, a boy of about 10 years, has slightly negative facial features, which is why it is speculated that he is African or at least has coloured parents.
Very impressive is the dynamic movement, which the bronze caster has captured very well.
The so called Jockey von Artemision is a gem of the certainly not poor exhibition mass of the National Archaeological Museum in Athens, inventory no. 15177.140 B. C. is assumed to be the year of manufacture.
The miniature replica is made of synthetic resin, finished in bronze with a marble base. Unfortunately, it is difficult to reproduce these fragile structures with a plaster mass.
